Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how BookNStyle ("we," "us," or "BookNStyle") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the BookNStyle mobile application and related services (the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here.
We designed the Services to collect only what we need to connect Clients with Professionals, process bookings and payments, and keep the marketplace safe.
Information We Collect
Account and profile information: your name, email address, phone number, role (Client or Professional), password (stored only as a secure hash), and — for Professionals — business name, bio, headline, service menu, and geo-verified business address.
Photos and content: profile photos and service photos you upload, and reviews, ratings, and messages you submit.
ID verification photos: if a Professional requires ID verification for age-restricted services (for example, tattoo artists), a photo of your government-issued ID that you upload when booking that Professional. ID photos are stored in private storage, are viewable only by you and the Professional you booked, and are never made public.
Booking information: appointments you create, the services and Professionals involved, scheduled times, locations, notes, and booking status.
Payment information: when you book, payment-card details are collected and processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers. We store limited records such as transaction amounts, fees, payout status, and the Stripe identifiers needed to manage your bookings.
Device and usage information: device type, operating system, app version, push-notification token, and basic usage and diagnostic data needed to operate and improve the Services.
Location information: a Professional's business address is collected to display location and enable geo-verification. We do not continuously track your precise device location; any use of device location is limited to features you actively use.
Communications: messages, support requests, and notification preferences.
How We Use Information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- To operate the marketplace — display Professional profiles, enable search and discovery, process bookings, and facilitate payments and payouts.
- To send transactional communications such as booking confirmations, reminders, reschedule requests, waitlist alerts, and receipts, by push notification and email.
- To provide customer support, resolve disputes, and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To maintain the safety and integrity of the platform, including enforcing our Terms of Service and reviewing reported content.
- To improve the Services, understand usage, and develop new features.
- To comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations.
- With your consent, to send marketing or promotional messages, which you can opt out of at any time.
Marketing. If you tick the box at sign-up agreeing to receive tips, updates, and offers, we will send you marketing messages by email. You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or contacting support@booknstyle.com. Transactional messages about your bookings and account are sent regardless of marketing preferences.
How We Share Information
With other Users: when you book, the relevant Client and Professional see the information necessary to complete the appointment (for example, name, service, time, and location). If you upload an ID verification photo, it is shared only with the Professional you booked. Professional profiles, photos, ratings, and reviews are visible to Clients in the marketplace.
With service providers that help us operate the Services, under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations:
- Stripe, Inc. — payment processing and payouts.
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage hosting.
- Expo — push-notification delivery.
- Twilio — SMS delivery (when enabled).
- Apple and Google — app distribution and operating-system services.
For legal reasons: to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, and property of BookNStyle, our Users, or the public.
Business transfers: if BookNStyle is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your personal information.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. After you delete your account, we remove your profile and associated personal data from our active systems, except information we must retain for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes, or that persists temporarily in routine backups.
ID verification photos are retained only in connection with the associated booking. You may request earlier deletion of an ID photo at any time by contacting support@booknstyle.com.
When you delete your account, your support requests are deleted too, except safety reports. We keep safety reports, including ones you made and ones made about you, as a safety and legal record. We remove the link between each report and your account, but keep what the report says as it was written, along with our notes and emails about it.
Your Choices and Rights
Access and update: you can review and update most account and profile information directly in the app.
Account deletion: you can delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account, or by contacting us at support@booknstyle.com. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile and associated personal data, subject to the retention exceptions above.
Communications: you can manage push notifications in your device settings and in the app, and unsubscribe from marketing emails. Transactional messages necessary to operate your bookings cannot be disabled while you have an active account.
Region-specific rights: depending on where you live (for example, California under the CCPA/CPRA, or the EEA/UK under the GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@booknstyle.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, row-level database security, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential.
Some information necessarily travels through third-party infrastructure (such as payment processors and hosting providers) that is not under our direct control.
Age Requirement and Children
The Services are intended solely for adults who are at least 18 years old. When you create an account we ask you to confirm that you are at least 18, and we store the date, time, and version of that confirmation with your account so we can demonstrate the basis on which we provided the Services to you. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will terminate the account and delete the information. If you believe a minor has provided us information or is using the Services, contact us at support@booknstyle.com.
International Users
BookNStyle is operated from the United States and information is processed and stored in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Services, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with data-protection laws different from those in your country.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
